Open Mic Free Event
Express Yourself! Children and young people aged 7 to 16 years are invited to share their words on the microphone as part of Brighton Book Festival's Family Day. Take to the platform and be free to perform whatever you want to share with this friendly family audience. Whether you've got a poem or short story to share, a joke, a rap, a letter to read, a song or a speech- you're free to take up to 3 minutes to share one or two creative pieces.
You don't need to know it off by heart, and you can share things you're still working on too! The open mic is a WARM and WELCOMING SPACE for all children.
Hosted by "Brighton Girl of the Year 2025" Kaia Allen-Bevan, host of the open mic event Poet's Palace.
Brighton Book Festival is delighted to be joined by sponsors Little Green Pig who inspire and amplify young writers voices and imagination across Sussex, including free creative after school clubs and Young Writers Collective.
All children attending this workshop will get a free lunch at 12.30.
